Campus Security Authorities (CSA)
One purpose of the Clery Act is to encourage the reporting and collection of accurate campus crime statistics to promote crime awareness and enhance campus safety. The intent of including non-law enforcement personnel in the Campus Security Authorities鈥 role is to acknowledge that some community members and students, in particular, may be hesitant about reporting crimes to the police, but may be more inclined to report incidents to other campus-affiliated individuals.
In accordance with the requirements of the Clery Act, 杨贵妃传媒视频 will designate specific college officials and/or offices to act as Campus Security Authorities, as defined by the Clery Act. The 杨贵妃传媒视频 Police Department is responsible for maintaining the college CSA list. This list is to be updated on a regular basis to ensure all names are active college employees.鈥
Emergency Notifications
The Clery Act requires colleges and universities to issue鈥Emergency Notifications upon confirmation of:
- a significant emergency or dangerous situation that
- involves an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees.
The intent of an Emergency Notification is to inform people that an event is occurring or imminently threatening the campus to enable people to protect themselves.
The College will issue an Emergency Notification even if the threat is not on or immediately adjacent to campus if the situation nonetheless presents an immediate danger to the health or safety of students or employees. Notifications are issued immediately upon confirmation of the emergency by responsible authorities pre-identified by the institution in their Annual Security Report.
The Emergency Notification may involve:
- A criminal act that presents an immediate threat; or鈥
- A non-criminal immediate threat, such as an approaching hurricane or other extreme
weather condition, a hazardous materials release, a fire or explosion, etc.
Six notification methods may be used during an Emergency Notification:
- Text messages (all locations)
- Reverse phone messages (all locations)
- Hall and common-space large screen monitors (all locations)
- Desktop computers (all locations)
- External emergency phone speakers (Fall River only)
- Siren atop the Learning Resources Center (Fall River only)
Timely Warnings
Timely Warnings are issued in response to a crime that is reported to have occurred on campus and represents an ongoing threat to the health or safety of students or employees.
The Clery Act requires colleges and universities to alert the college community to certain crimes in a manner that is timely and will aid in the prevention of similar crimes.
Although the Clery Act does not define 鈥渢imely,鈥 the intent of a Timely Warning is to enable members of the college community to protect themselves. Therefore, a Timely Warning will include information that will promote safety and aid in the prevention of similar crimes.
Timely Warnings will be issued as soon as pertinent information is available, even if all facts surrounding a criminal incident are not known. 杨贵妃传媒视频 (杨贵妃传媒视频) will issue a timely warning on a case-by-case basis for any Clery Act crime reported to 杨贵妃传媒视频 Police, a Campus Security Authority (CSA), or a local law enforcement agency that was committed within the college鈥檚 Clery Act geography and is considered by the institution to represent a serious or continuing threat to students and employees.
