The has partnered with Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓƵ to present cook, author and PBS host Maria Lawton on Friday, November 1, at 7 p.m. An Evening with Maria Lawton will feature an entertaining exploration of traditional ingredients from the Azores, and an interview with the Azorean Green Bean herself at Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓƵ. Immediately following the event, Maria will mingle with guests at the post-show reception and have a book signing featuring sweet treats and a performance by Portuguese guitarist ´³´Çã´Ç Silva.

The rich and delicious culinary history of the Azores comes alive with Maria Lawton’s engaging demonstration on traditional Azorean ingredients. She’ll explore how oils, spices, fish, and preparation techniques have been woven into dishes throughout generations. Large screens will allow the audience to follow Maria as she explains their cultural and culinary significance.
Then, in a talk show setting, Maria will share the influences and inspirations she has encountered through her cooking within Portuguese culture, providing both background and historical context. She will then answer culinary questions from the audience. A limited number of her yet-to-be-released cookbook, "At My Portuguese Table: Azorean Cooking and More," will be available for purchase at the event.
An Evening with Maria Lawton, generously sponsored by Portugalia Marketplace and Boutique Fitness, will take place in the Margaret L. Jackson Arts Center (H building) at Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓƵ Community College’s Fall River Campus, 777 Elsbree Street. Immediately following the event, join Maria at the post-show reception featuring pastries made by Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓƵ's Baking & Pastry students and a performance by Portuguese guitarist ´³´Çã´Ç Silva.
